HOW
WHAT
- Access to 24 hours of high-quality, evidence-based information presented by APHRA-registered health practitioners on:
-
- Pain Science: Why pain persists and how to manage it.
- Exercise: Safe and effective ways to move.
- Sleep: Strategies for better rest.
- Nutrition: Using food to support pain management.
- Pain Medication: Understanding what you take and how to take it safely
- Thoughts and Feelings: How mindset influences pain.
- Ergonomics: Practical adjustments for daily life.
- Healthcare Navigation: Communicating effectively with health professionals.
- SMART Goal Setting: Building achievable, empowering goals aligned to your values.
- The Pain Self-Management Program Workbook contains a rich synopsis of all education modules, reflection worksheets and a progressive exercise program complete with diagrams and instructions.
- Access to content as a live webcast and recording; enabling participants to self-pace and revisit sessions as required for up to six weeks post-program completion. Customised Decoder reporting is securely transmitted to the referring doctor to guide subsequent pain management consultations upon graduation. Three reports are issued: the first upon program completion, the second at six months and the final at twelve months.
- In-person participants additionally receive portable exercise equipment, a printed copy of the program manual, supervision during exercise sessions and the ability to connect over refreshments with peers and staff.
Current evidence suggests that both online and in-person self-management courses offer clinically significant improvements in opiate reduction, while the in-clinic group had significantly greater improvements in pain and disability
