Pain Self-Management Program

Reclaim Control of Pain

The Pain Self-Management Program equips individuals with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to manage pain and improve their quality of life.
Explaining the neuroscience of pain has been shown to improve pain and movement, reduce fear of avoidance and improve a patient’s ability to manage despite their pain, a process coined ‘Self Management’.

    • Pain Science: Why pain persists and how to manage it.
    • Exercise: Safe and effective ways to move.
    • Sleep: Strategies for better rest.
    • Nutrition: Using food to support pain management.

Customised Decoder reporting is securely transmitted to the referring doctor to guide subsequent pain management consultations upon graduation. Three reports are issued: the first upon program completion, the second at six months and the final at twelve months.
  4. In-person participants additionally receive portable exercise equipment, a printed copy of the program manual, supervision during exercise sessions and the ability to connect over refreshments with peers and staff.

Current evidence suggests that both online and in-person self-management courses offer clinically significant improvements in opiate reduction, while the in-clinic group had significantly greater improvements in pain and disability
